Our Mandate

The CGSJ is an inclusive space to meet, share, create and organize with people from the Trent, Nogojiwanong-Peterborough communities who share a commitment to our mandate.

The CGSJ is committed to community-based care and mutual aid and finding ways to redistribute resources locally. We prioritize the needs of 2SLGBTQIA+ people, Black, Indigenous, racialized peoples and all those affected by gender-based oppression.

We use a social justice model that is informed by a holistic understanding of anti-oppression and feminist politics. This model aims to recognize the ways in which ideas and experiences of gender are shaped by colonialism, racism, classism, ableism, cis-heteronormativity and all other forms of oppression. We approach our work within a harm reduction lens and opt for restorative justice practices over carceral feminism.
